PASSPORT TO MURDER

The Last Train Out

It took me three years to get a story accepted into a Bouchercon anthology. A thrill in itself. Then to have my story right next to Chris Grabenstein of Mr. Lemoncello fame brought it to fan girl level.

Lou's Diner

In the introduction, international thriller author
Jeffery Deaver calls my story classic psychological suspense..."which is chillingly reminiscent of The Twilgiht Zone. Probably the most awesome thing anyone has said about my writing to date.

MYSTERY MOST HISTORICAL

The Barter

Watching The Waltons with my grandmother is a fond memory so I thought what would it be like to set a mystery in a similar setting during the Great Depression. This is my first historical mystery story and I'm keeping company with the likes of Victoria Thompson,
Charles Todd, and Elaine Viets.

FLASH AND BANG
Murder on Elm Street

Who hasn't felt like a fish out of water at some point in life? This story follows Gin and Diamond, twins who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks.
I always wondered what it would be like to find a message in a bottle. What would it say? Who would have written it? In this story, my protagonist Odie Dinkle has to figure out just that.
A snowbound house, a room full of suspects, with a murderer among them. In this story I tried to include all the elements of the classic mysteries I grew up reading.

DESTINATION MYSTERY
Pearls of Wisdom

I love writing about offbeat characters. Abigail Grimley is a cantankerous sort with a slight anti-social hobby.

Crossroad

Stories where settings come alive and can almost be considered another character are some of my favorites. That's what I tried to do with Culpepper, a town with one traffic light and a sinister under current.

My first short story sale was July 1992 to TRUE ROMANCE magazine. Pat Byrdsong was the editor. She called my house, back before cell phones, and left a message with my mother. When I got home I called her back. Yes, they put me right through to her! And she told me she loved my story and they would like to buy it. I went on to sell 8 more stories to the TRUE magazines including: TRUE EXPERIENCE, TRUE STORY, TRUE LOVE, and TRUE CONFESSIONS. There were about 16 other stories after that which sold to various anthologies and magazines.
